The main area of application is the reinforcement of reinforced concrete products and masonry from brick or various blocks - cinder blocks, blocks of aerated concrete. It is especially relevant for the latter, as they give a significant shrinkage, at which large tensile forces arise. The mechanical strength of the block is not enough for them and it gives a crack. Also, with the help of such a mesh, screeds for various coatings are reinforced. In addition to reinforcement, masonry mesh is used for:
- separation of bulk materials (of course, the size of the mesh cell should be less than the fraction of bulk material);
- cell creation;
- strengthening of arches and other curvilinear structures;
- create a roadbed.
The masonry grid allows, at a low cost, to significantly increase the strength and durability of reinforced concrete structures, masonry, screed and road. Thanks to it, the process of reinforcement of reinforced concrete structures is simplified directly at the work site, because basically the reinforcing elements are already interconnected and it remains only if it is necessary to interconnect the nets themselves.
Types of welded mesh (by construction type)
- Type 1 - heavy mesh with working rods in the longitudinal direction (there are two types of rods - workers that carry the main load and distribution, which distribute the load in the direction perpendicular to the direction of the main load);
- Type 2 - heavy mesh with working rods in both directions;
- Type 3 - heavy mesh with working rods in the transverse direction;
- Type 4 - lightweight grid with distribution rods in all directions;
- Type 5 - lightweight mesh with transverse rods not the entire length.
Grids with rods in at least one direction with a diameter of 12 mm are called heavy. Light, respectively, with a diameter of 3 to 10 mm. The correspondences between the diameter of the rods, the size of the cell and the overall size of the grid are shown in the table below.
