Galvanized Tube

from 375,000 tenge per ton

Steel is susceptible to corrosion but this galvanised steel tube has been specially treated to resist oxidisation and is an excellent choice of steel tube for outdoor use. It is medium thickness and has a plain end, and can be used in a huge number of demanding structural applications.

Category: Steel pipes

Galvanized pipe has one decisive advantage over pipes that do not have a protective zinc layer - a much higher corrosion resistance, and hence a much longer service life. At the moment, this type of rolled products does not have a worthy competitor where it is necessary to work in a corrosive environment. Other types of protective coating are either unreasonably expensive or do not have the same resistance as the zinc layer. If we talk about plastic pipes, they can compete in the case of only small diameters, pressures and temperatures. In addition to high corrosion resistance, galvanized pipes have a number of advantages:

  • high strength and rigidity;
  • durability and safety;
  • wide range of operating temperatures;
  • heat resistance;
  • ease of installation and operation.

Galvanized pipe manufacturing techniques

The term “galvanized pipe” means that a zinc layer of a certain thickness is applied on its surface in one way or another. There are several technologies for applying such a coating:

  • hot mode;
  • cold way;
  • galvanic method;
  • thermal diffusion method.

The most widespread are the first two technologies that combine reliability at an acceptable cost. In the first method, the surface of the pipe is degreased, washed and dried, and then placed in a bath of boiling zinc, having a temperature of about 500ºC. As a result, a thick and durable layer of zinc is formed on the surface.

In the cold process, zinc-containing substances are applied to the pipes. This technology is inexpensive, relatively environmentally safe, but the zinc layer is less reliable. Steel Yard Company supplies hot-dip galvanized pipes as the most versatile for use in various fields, having a high service life and an acceptable cost.

Scopes of galvanized pipes

Galvanized pipes, due to their high corrosion resistance, durability, environmental safety (they do not emit hazardous substances into water) and visual appeal, have found the widest application in many areas. They are used by:

  • in drinking water supply systems;
  • for transportation of various aggressive liquids in the chemical, food and other types of the industry;
  • for the manufacture of furniture, elements of advertising structures, road signs, etc.

We want to emphasize that in order for the galvanized pipe to meet your expectations, it must be properly selected in accordance with the scope, as it is manufactured according to different GOST with different operating requirements.

Assotment classification

There are two main GOST standards for which galvanized pipes are produced:

  • GOST 3262-75 Steel water and gas pipes.
  • GOST 10704 91 Galvanized electrically welded pipes.

In accordance with these GOST, galvanized pipes can be produced with an outer diameter from 10 to 1420 mm and a length from 4 to 12 m of measured and non-dimensional length. Depending on the operating conditions and pressures, you can choose light, ordinary and reinforced pipes that differ in wall thickness.

Also distinguish pipes of ordinary and increased accuracy of the dimensions of the wall.

  1. Marsel

    I needed some rust proof supports for formwork for a path. I bought galvanised steel tubes from Austen Knapman and they were the ideal solution. Delivery was prompt and the price was reasonable.
