Questions about the metal market in Central Asia

In Kazakhstan, the metallurgical industry is developing rapidly. A few eloquent figures. In November 2017, 0.415 million tons of steel was smelted in the country. This is almost 13% more than in the same period last year and 9.9% more than in October.

Seeing the increase in demand for steel products, business owners are investing heavily in modernization. For example, ArcelorMittal Temirtau decided to invest more than $ 6 million in the Karaganda Metallurgical Plant in order to improve product quality. And for the first time in Kazakhstan, the Aktobe rail and structural steel plant began to produce a steel corner, which is in great demand in the local market. Some products will be exported to Russia.

The Almaty city is designated as a strategic point of metal trading in Kazakhstan.

It is no coincidence that, probably, the International Conference "Metals Market of Central Asia" will take place in Almaty on April 16-17. Scientists and production workers from Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan will gather at it.

The main issues of the Almaty Conference will be:

  • Forecast of consumption of rolled products (section, flat, shaped), as well as pipes in the countries of Central Asia in 2018.
  • Review of products of Russian metallurgical companies for rolled products in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
  • The development of metal processing and service metal centers in Central Asia.
  • Forecast of the price situation on the metal market in 2018.

We are confident that this conference in Almaty will be another impetus for the development of the metallurgical industry in Kazakhstan.
